I don’t just recommend tools; I rely on them. As a professional groomer and owner of 5 senior dogs, I’ve spent decades testing what survives a heavy coat and what actually helps monitor a senior dog’s health. These are the tools currently in my kit.

This is the ultimate in smart collars! This smart collar reports vital signs, if your dog is experiencing pain, it has GPS tracking AND it will sync with your smart watch! If you are concerned with the data on your dog you can share it with your vet. All the smart collars I have found require a subscription to benefit from the collar.

A Free Recipe for Our Community
Most commercial kibbles are processed at high heat, stripping away the vital nutrients your dog needs for longevity. This simple, “slow-cook” recipe is designed to support muscle mass in active dogs and digestive ease for our seniors.
The Ingredients
- 2 lbs Ground Turkey: Lean protein for muscle maintenance.
- 1 cup Quinoa (Cooked): A “super-grain” that is easier to digest than corn or wheat.
- 1 cup Shredded Carrots: For Beta-Carotene and eye health.
- 1/2 cup Zucchini (Diced): High in fiber and hydration.
- 1 tbsp Coconut Oil: For a shiny coat and healthy brain fats.
- 1/2 cup Blueberries: Natural antioxidants to fight inflammation.
The 3-Step Preparation
- Brown the Turkey: In a large skillet, cook the ground turkey over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain any excess fat.
- Mix & Steam: Stir in the cooked quinoa, carrots, and zucchini. Add 1/4 cup of water, cover the pan, and let it steam for 5 minutes until the veggies are soft.
- Cool & Boost: Turn off the heat. Stir in the coconut oil and blueberries. Crucial: Let the meal cool completely to room temperature before serving.
Pro-Tip for Senior Dogs: If your dog has dental issues or a slower appetite, pulse the finished meal in a food processor for 5 seconds to create a “pate” consistency that is easier to lick and swallow.
